Papa's Work Gear

The kids totally love Richard's "work stuff". This includes his hat, safety glasses, work keys, pager, and various other items. Sometimes if they beg enough they get to wear it and be "work guys" (or "work lady") for a while.

The Cutest Baby on the Block

I am Clementine. I am cute.

And I smile.

I like to look at my sister.

She walks around and calls my name...

...and I follow her with my eyes.

I like to look at my Mama too.

She makes me smile.

And coo.
I have big cheeks. Sometimes they call them jowls.
I have a double chin, too, but you'll have to keep looking to find a picture of that.

* * * * * * * *

This is Mama's all-time favorite outfit of mine. She is sad that I'm outgrowing it!

Oh how I love you, Sissy!
You always make me laugh!
(Now do you see my double chin?)

I really love my big sister! I can't wait to be big like her.
Mama said Sissy wore this outfit when she was a baby!

I like to chill with Papa.
(Check it out, I'm wearing that outfit again. Mama's a bit obsessive.)
I like to watch my brothers, too.

Mama makes me wear this hat. I do look pretty cute in it...
This bib was from Papa's co-workers. They're nice.
Sometimes I just fall asleep in Sissy's arms.I love my family, but they sure wear me out.
Zzzzzzzzzz.........

And the Answer Is...

Here's the answers to Moses' mystery words:

"Cecil" is "Cereal" (Nice job, Erin!) and a "Go-bo" is a "Granola Bar"! (Way to go, E&E!)

The "Moody Feeder" is the "Movie Theater" of course! (He's only been there once with Uncle Caleb, but asks to go there quite frequently.) You guys both got that one.

"Mewxin" is "Music". We found this one really hilarious, but sadly he just started pronouncing music correctly a few days ago. Sad. Wow, Eric and Elisa, I'm really impressed you got this one! You obviously have "toddler-speak" experience.

And a "Cat-roon" is a "Racoon". He likes to mix up syllables like that. Pretty cute! I don't think I would have gotten this one if he hadn't been pointing to a picture of a racoon.

The Game is Called "Name That Toddler Word"!

Isn't it adorable how toddlers mispronounce words? Judah isn't really talking, but Moses is a chatterbug and has some words we that are quite unique. We have to hide our smiles when we hear him say some of these words. See if you can guess what he means:

What kind of food does Moses want when he asks for "Cecil" or a "Go-bo"?

When Moses wants to go to the "Moody Feeder", where does he mean?

Moses loves it when we play "mewxin". What is it?

Moses saw a picture of a "Cat-roon". What was it?

These ones are more obvious, but still cute: He likes to play with "buh-locks" (blocks) and when he picked his scab he saw "buh-lud" (blood).

What funny things do your kids say?

This Ain't No Gas, Baby!

I can't stand it when people blame a baby's smiles on gas. I think it's just an old wives tale, anyway. Why would a baby bust into a huge smile if he/she had gas?!?

Anyway, this girl is lookin' at her mama and SMILING! No gas here, just a really happy baby.

My heart just melts when this girl smiles at me!

Five Weeks Old

I am so in love with my sweet little baby girl!

The pain of childbirth,
the sleepless nights,
the poopy diapers,
getting spit up on (and worse),
the constant nursing...

all these things are more than worth it!

In fact, they are a privilege and a joy.

I have a baby to love and care for - what a gift!

May God grant that I not take any of this for granted.

Four Generations

One of my cousins got married yesterday and I had the opportunity to get a picture of four generations of women! My precious grandmother Arlene, her daughter (my wonderful mom) Susan, then me and my two daughters Grace and Clementine.

It was very sweet to see my grandma holding Clementine and to think of how she nurtured and held her own babies, and then her grandbabies, and now great-grandbabies!
I am so thankful for my mom and grandma - older, godly women whom I admire so much - and for my two lovely daughters who I hope and pray will grow to be women of God and tender, nurturing wives and mothers as well.

One Month Old!

This sweet little girl is one month old! No, I cannot believe it. She is up to 10 lbs and seemingly growing like a weed. We're definitely getting to know her likes and dislikes, her little personality already evident. She likes to "stand" and look around, and although she's a very good baby, she can be a bit... temperamental. Mama's had to work a little bit more to figure out what she wants!

Despite being maybe not quite as easy-going as the boys were as babies, Clementine is a happy girl. At exactly four weeks she began smiling at us! No, not "just gas," but actual social smiling! She was in a quiet alert period and was making all sorts of funny faces with her tongue sticking in and out. I was laughing so hard at her facial expressions when she stared at my face for a few moments, then broke into a huge, open-mouthed smile! She did it a few more times as I smiled and talked to her. It was so fun. Since then she's smiled at us very distinctly many times. Perhaps she'll be a little social butterfly, because as far as I know smiling at 4 weeks is early.

Richard and I still find it hard to believe that we have a baby GIRL! Babies in our house have always been boys, and the "big" child a girl. It's a new experience to have the tiniest person be a girl, and very fun to watch our other three children interact with their little sister.

Here she's wearing a pair of wool "longies" over her diaper, which I made from a Goodwill sweater.

Cheeks! More like "jowls". :)

Is she going to cry??

A little tummy rub from Moses.

Oh how mama loves to have a little girl to dress again!!

slurp, slurp, slurp...
